Well-Fare

When you pay for the down and outs in your community,
You pay to invest into the future of your very own society-
It maybe, perhaps, for a future that is not fully guaranteed
But it is a prudent investment in the future of all humanity.
Yes, you may well find yourself resented, by the very scum
That you have given of your hard-earned money to feed:
You may find yourself assaulted by a boy, whose poor mum-
Your money helped keep, from becoming another broken life
But consider this: That same woman may have other children-
One who may grow to become a doctor- who saves your life,
Or another, not so smart, who ends up wiping your backside-
For as an auxiliary nurse, it’s his job to care for the likes of you?
When that day comes, you may find, that you have become infirm
And become an economic burden- and a drain on the system too.
